What I've done is to add content and content really matters. It's also part of my whole re-design of the site to make it both more visitor and more search engine friendly. Something that's almost doubled the nuber of visitors I'm getting in the past three months (and this despite having my site's rankings shurnk by Google.
These days, however, I have other problems apart from this eZine and my website to occupy me. Chief amongst which is that my son is desperately ill in hospital in Senegal, West Africa (my wife is Liberian). He is ony five and has malaria and at that age survival is nowhere near certain. So I'm taking the upcomong holidays to try and do a few things for him and for my wife. I'm also going to be introducing a product firesale over the weekend to raise money for my son's treatment. Please look out for the announcement.

Pretty Sites are Good for SEO

The web is a constantly evolving place and search engines adapt and change to reflect this. One of the big innovations coming along is image-based searching and the increased use of site thumbnails. This is why I say that pretty sites will be good for your SEO.
As more and more site and page thumbnails are embedded into search results many webmasters are going to have to re-think how their websites are laid out. The use of images at the top of the page and the use of bright colours and banners to attract the eye. This is a whole new approach to SEO and web page design.
Even now it's amazing how many people use image searches to find things on the web. They look for an image and come across a page in your website as a result. And this trend can only increase in the future as image searches, video searches and other search types are integrated into the 'standard' web page searches of the search engines.
This means that you are going to have to pay more attention to the 'alt' tags of the various images on your site. Make certain that they are relevant and that they actually correspond to what the image is displaying. Also pay attention to the text surrounding the image. Make certain that this is relevant and again reflects what the image is showing. An easy way of doing this is to add a caption to your image (very easy to do with CSS).
What we have here is a whole new evolution of the SEO ethos. Partly it's standard SEO stuff, but applied to images. Now we're aiming to help the search engines find and accurately index the various images on your site. You're aiming to keep the descriptions of the images you have accurate and to add text to and around images that will help in defining what those images (and the content of your website) represent.
This is also useful for many social networking sites who also seek an image from your site or web page that will represent that web page.
But the most important change is the common use of page thumbnails. This is a whole new ethos of SEO and goes to the heart of usability and user experience. It's where the 'science' of SEO techniques meets the 'art' of designing beautiful pages.
You are not only going to have to prepare your pages to be SEO friendly to the search engines, and to have good content for your site visitors but you are also going to have to make the pages look elegant. What's more they will need to look good not just in full-screen mode but also when shrunk down to thumbnail size as they will need to stand out from the crowd when an user glances at the image.
The revolution is coming and you had better start thinking about image optimization as part of your overall SEO strategy now.

What's Hot in ClickBank
With so much of my focus going on ClickBank and ClickBank associated pages over the past few (and the forthcoming months) I thought that I should add a weekly digest of What's Hot in ClickBank to you, my loyal readers. Each weekend I update the ClickBank feed for my Celtnet ClickBank Marketplace, which then drives the various Free ClickBank search and Ads Code systems I provide. I've also started to perform analyses of the current against the previous ClicBank datafeed releases. Each time ClickBank perform a new release they analyze their sales and other data for that time period and they re-evaluate product rankings on this basis. New products come in, old products fall out of the system and product rankings go up and go down. I will soon be making a full digest of these data available so you can check which products have moved, how the products you are promoting are doing, as well as keeping you informed of any product price changes...
What this isn't is a list of all the top products for the week. Indeed, the top products probably aren't the ones you should promote as there's a lot of competition out there. Rather, what I'm presenting is a digest of the 'hot' mid range products. The ones that are on the up. I also support these product statements with an analysis of what people are searching for on my system. And you have to remember that I annotate all he ClickBank products by hand so my Celtnet ClickBank Search System ClickBank search system is one of the most comprehensive out there, and certainly better that ClickBank's own serach system. It's also the same system that drives my Free ClickBank Search Code, allowing you to put comprehensive ClickBank searches on your site.
The ClickBank database driving this site was updated on Tuesday 18th March 2008 with the inclusion of 134 new products into the ClickBank system. These have been uploaded and annotated into the Celtnet ClickBank Marketplace and are now searchable. All the products have had their images updated and the products in ClckBank's 'top 30' in all categories have had their descriptions and sales text to make them easier for you to sell!
There fall-out from ClickBank's recent alteration to their ranking algorithm now seems over and product movement in the top 30 rankings seem to have stabilized. This time, as a result, there's much less churn in my Cletnet ClickBank Marketplace Digest.
Of the various searches performed on my site during the previous week, two really stand out. The first is for anything to do with 'weight loss' and the second for the terms 'forex trading' or clear debt so you can see that the economic downturn and the efect of Christmas bills are the two things foremost on people's mind. Interestingly, however, the products that are making most advances in terms of ClickBank rankings are all those to do with gardening (search for gardening greenhouse orchids. These seem to be the products to promote at the moment and if you can build a niche site around these terms then using these ad feeds for your site would be a real boon. Remember that it will soon be even easier for you to have these ads on your site as you can use an RSS feed along with your AdSense ads. I'll provide you with all the tools you need!

Can you do Without eBooks?
Apart from offering you a ready-made sales system eBooks can be a truly excellent way to drive your business forward. But when most people think of and/or about eBooks they tend to think in terms of eBook sales... Now, this can be an excellent way to bring your site a passive income, but that's definitely not the only way you can use eBooks to drive your business forward. Below is a list of the ways you can use eBooks to your advantage.
1. Passive income from an eBook store.
An eBook sales system, such as the Celtnet eBook Site Package provides you with everything you need to run an eBook sales system on your website. It takes literally half an hour to get the system up and running and since it comes pre-loaded with eBooks you could be earning an income within an hour. Of course, like all your web ventures you need to build links and get traffic. But once you have people coming into your store everything works automatically. You could do this via ClickBank (which potentially gets you lots of affiliates) or you could do this via your own eBook store.
5. Use eBooks to add 'extras' to your own eBook Sales
This is another technique to make the sales of your own eBook seem more attractive. You create a package of five or six eBooks and software that you can offer to anyone who purchases your own eBook. Say you sell your eBook for $26 and you offer five other products (which probably cost you at most $15 so you've made a profit after your first sale and you've made your whole eBook package a lot more attractive.
6. Give away a Free ebook for Affiliate Sales
This is an excellent way of gaining more affiliate sales. Write a simple eBook on a topic that you know well. Fill it with useful information and point your users to products and services that they will find usefull... all of which have your affiliate ID embedded in them. Allow anyone else to give the eBook away as well and you will soon see an avalanche of viral traffic coming into the affiliate programs you're promoting.
As you can see, there are a whole range of ways you can make an additional income from eBooks. It's just a case of writing your own eBooks and getting enough eBooks in your own niches so that you can sell them or give them away. You can also go to stores such as the Celtnet eBook Store where you can buy your eBooks for less than $2. At this price you can more than recoup your investment after only one sale on your own web page!

Links, Links, Links...
Yes, I know, we're back to the link building issues again. But links are important they're the life-blood of your on-line presence. This is why link-building simply has to be a standard part of your everyday startegy. You need to keep writing and submitting articles, you need to keep-up with your link-building and exchange efforts and you need to maintain those blog posts.
Whatever your web presence, as long as you have some kind of presence on the internet then you will need traffic to your site. The only way to get traffic to your site is to get more in-bound links. How you do this is up to you. But if you ignore getting links then you are simply allowing a good portion of what should be your internet-based income to be frittered away. Look at it this way, if you can gain a hundred new links from quality sites you could double your website's traffic... And writing articles is a great way of doing this. Each article allows you at least two back-links and you should have no problem creating 6 articles in a day. This means 12 articles per day and 100 back-links in less than two weeks!
Of course, all this is a lot of effort (which really does need to be done) but getting and maintaining links will eat into the time you have for adding content to your site. if you want to out-source this effort and can afford it then you could use the services of http://www.mysitesubmit.com (which have very reasonable plans and whom I can personally vouch for) to get immediate traffic to his site and to improve back-links. I used these guys when I was starting out as they're cheap but efficient. Now, though I would recommends AmazingBillboards 'Full Service Marketing' as the package of choice for any webmaster who needs lots of guaranteed traffic.
