Knowm from a single inscription found at Laval, France where he is invoked as Marti Budenic[o] (Mars Budenicus) [CIL XII 2973].
Bugius is a deity known from inscriptions found at Tarquimpol, Moselle, France and Haegen, Bas-Rhin, France (where he is invoked along with Nerius).
Beyond the name little is known of Bugius though his invocation along with Nerius would indicate that he was associated with healing springs. Even the name presents us with an interpretational problem in that it could be derived from several reconstructed proto-Celtic roots: *bug-lāa-e/o- (strike), *bukko- (buck), *bukkijā- (life). Assuming that the association of the deity with healing waters is correct then the most likely interpretation is 'He of Life' with the meaning 'Giver of Life', a fitting epithet for a healer deity.
