Etnosus is known from a single inscription found at Bourges, Cher, France (CIL XIII 01189). Nothing survives of this deity's attributes and properties save his name. However, his name is probably related to genitive form of the reconstructed proto-Celtic word for bird fetn-os giving his name a meaning something like 'The Avian One' or possibly 'The Feathered One'. As many brid-associated deities in Celtic mythos (Brân, Creÿr and Rhiannon) are asssociated with war, death and the otherworld this might make Etnosus a psychopomp or a keeper of the dead.
