Greidiawl Gallofyd mab Enfael Adrann is only known from two sources. Two poems in the Trioedd Ynys Prydein and a mention amongst the lists of Arthur's heroes in the tale of Culhwch ac Olwen. Were it not for triads 19 and the Peniarth 47 MSS variant of triad 56 then Greidawl would not have made it into this list at all.
Triad 19 of the Trioedd Ynys Prydein ranks Greidawl amongst the "Three enemy-subduers of the Island of Britain' (the other two being Gweir and Drystan). In a similar manner to Drystan, Greidawl's epithet of gallofyd (enemy-subduer) may refer to a battle-frenzy that effectively leaves him inviolate.
Triad 56, the triad about the three Gwenhwyfars has a variant, Peniarth 47 which gives Gwythyr's patronymic as Greidyawl Gallovyd thus making the Greidiawl discussed here his father.
Greidiawl's name means 'fierce' thus, with his epithet of Gallofyd he is the Fierce Enemy-subduerwhich fits-in with his likely cynneddf of invulnerable battle rage.
