Gruddlwm Gorr is known only from a single triad in the Trioedd Ynys Prydein and a single mention in the Mabinogi of Culhwch ac Olwen. Triad 28, names the 'Three Great Enchantments of the Island of Britain' of which the third is the enchantment of Rudlwm Gorr (which taught to Coll fab Collfrewy, his nephew). The Llyfr Coch Hergest version of this triad conflates Rudlwm with Gwiddolwyn Gorr, though the Mabinogi of Culhwch ac Olwen makes it clear that both characters are distinct. The tale of Culhwch ac Olwen names Grudlwyn Gorr amongst the knights of Arthur. As this is the elder version of the name it strongly indicates that the correct form is Gruddlwm a name which is formed from the Cymric components grudd (cheek) and llwm (bare/shaven). Thus Gruddlwm Gorr is the Bare-cheeked Dwarf.
