Magianus
A Gaulish God: The Great One
Magianus is a Gaulish god known from a single inscription found at August, Switzerland where he is associated with Roman Mars. He may represent a warrior deity, though his association with Roman Jupiter in the same inscription indicates that he may also have been considered one of the Celtic 'Great Gods'. |

Magianus is a deity know from a single inscription found at August, Switzerland (AE 1991, 1265) where he is assimilated with Mars as Marti Magianus and invoked along with IOM (Jupiter Optimus Maximus). The name, Magianus is derived from the reconstructed proto-Celtic compoent *magyo- (great) which might indicate that he was worshiped as the warrior aspect of Mars, though this cannot be known with any real certainty.
