Mantounus is a deity known from a single inscription found at Salins-les-Thermes, Savoie, France (AE 1959, 134). Beyond the name nothing is known about this deity and even the god's name is diffiicult to interpret. The first part may be related to the reconstructed proto-Celtic element *manto- (gums, jaw). The second element in the name, ou(n) is more difficult to interpret but it may be related to the proto-Celtic *oug- which would give an interpretation of 'strong jaw' for the name. This is likely to indicate a good warrior, one who can take the punishment of combat as well as meting it out.
