Here you will find an exhaustive (almost 200) list of free press release site. Submitting a press release is an excellent way of getting your site or porduct known as many press releases are syndicated to a number of agencies. As a result you can get a large number of incoming links to your site very quickly by submitting a press release.

I've found that you generally need to submit to at least 10 press release sites to get sufficient 'buzz' to bring sufficient in-coming links into your site that you can be guaranteed of significantly increasing your traffic. Once you've done this then syndication of the press release itself gives you sufficient in-bound links for the process to take off on its own
